And we didn't even like peaches.

Peachy: A cynic's way of saying, "Wow, that's wonderful!"

We visited Apple Annie's produce farm and hand picked some fresh peaches in our Day trip to Wilcox, AZ.

(Not Pictured: Hank and Laura, but don't worry, we're okay.)

And after a magical brainstorm session we decided to base an entire day around peach recipes. Which we do go on the record stating, we don't even like peaches. But! Things change.

ENTER: Guest Star Melanie...

"!"

with a Peach Chutney over Baby Spinach Salad and White Wine (Shout out Chris and Cam), Tilapia dressed in Peach Salsa, served with Kale Chips (Sup David Rube) and Green Chile Millet AND finished off with a Classic Peach Pie al a mode + Peach honey (native food produced in Douglas, AZ).

NUTRITION & COOK TIME:
Peaches: Fiber, Vitamin A, Potassium, Vitamin C, fruit are always a smart source for natural sugars.

We had two versions of peach salsa present at the dinner: Sweet and Savory. Both recipes call for chopped red and white onion, tomatoes, PEACH. And for the sweet you add some mint and cilantro. For the savory, you add roasted garlic and green chilies.

Tilapia (omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids): inexpensive (and agri-morally controversial) fish that's a source of "good fats" and proteins. You want your hair and skin to be beautiful don't you? And shine?!

Typically you can pan fry or bake fish, and since we love baking in olive oil... Also consider a mild marinade. Lime juice, cumin, garlic, cayenne.

Kale (so good for you): Source for protein, Iron, Fiber, Calcium, Vitamin C.

In making Kale Chips, it's really much easier to just get some pre-cleaned and cut in those bags around the salad section of the grocery store. Unless you belong to the CSA, then you already know how to clean and prep it and you don't really have a choice.

Anyway- grease up or foil down a cookie sheet. Scatter the cut Kale (to about 2" x 3") across the sheet. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle sea salt on top. Then bake on 350, for no more than ten minutes. Let stand for a couple minutes after for ultimate crispy.

Millet is a grain like Quinoa, a gluten-free alternative to wheat based pastas and also a Super food! The prep requires browning the grain in a skillet with just olive oil. After it's been toasted to a golden brown, you add 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of Millet and you simmer until the water is gone. You should end up with a fluffy result, similar to Quinoa.

Food Porn Shot of the Peach Pie. And basically this is a make-you-jealous-shot, because Melanie's recipe is a family secret. Bitch.

HOT SEX TIP: Okay, you really want to know the recipe. DUH. It's fuckin' amazing. So you didn't hear it from us but a bottle of red, white, blush - any wine at all- and Melanie will probably give it up. And we use that phrase liberally.

L-word,
Hank and Laura and Melanie
